Entry # 1. Opinions about Blogs

What is a Blog?

  1. A blog is a website that is updated on a regular basis that's run by one person or a group of people which is written in a personal, or casual/professional tone. Blogs are a great way to express oneself to an audience. For a blog to be successful, the writer needs to have many important parts to it. For instance, they would need to have a heading that attracts the audience to read the blog. Same goes with subheadings; the more intriguing it sounds, the more the reader is pulled in to keep reading. Another key factor to a successful blog includes an informative and engaging body of paragraphs. The paragraphs must include enough description that engages people to stay on their blog. If it is boring, people will simply log off because it doesn't appeal to them. To add on to this, images and graphics also make well illustrating points and break up large chunks of bodies of words as well. This also includes links to videos or other websites as well to back up certain things. The last thing to note and most important of them all is the call to action! It is one of the main parts to a blog because of the writer's purpose included in it.

The Goal Today

  1. The objective we are aiming for today is to differentiate an unsuccessful blog from a successful one and why by stating its failing factors and what could have been done better to make it to the top!

THE Unsuccessful Blog...🙅

  1. The reason I did not like this blog was because it includes too much personal information about the author in their background. Also, their background is almost the same number of words as their body, and it's just too much. The writer's goal was to explain why she is the way she is when decorating her house with the things she has. She included an extra amount of her personal background information, but if she could have added some research or history on art or decorations, readers could have understood her purpose more. Her purpose was to inform, but with informative blogs, it would make sense to add evidence. As for the organization, she did go in order from starting with her background and heading towards her explanation, but there's not much evidence to help her out. The author could have also added more paragraphs or more detail and description (there's only 4 paragraphs).

A Successful Blog💁

The first thing a reader notices in this blog is the title. It starts by stating something happy, and towards the end of the title it goes tragic. Of course, someone who is reading this wants to know what caused something that sounds so well to end like that. The purpose of this author's blog is to entertain with her personal life, as this is a personal blog. She states all her events in chronological order, starting from the background of her happy marriage to the middle of her marriage getting ugly, to the end of it, all while being an author of her book. Because of the order she followed, her organization is well written. She included enough detail and description, resulting in a decent number of paragraphs. Her only flaw in this blog is not including enough images or links to support.

THE Best Successful Blog💁

    1. For starters, this blog has an appealing title that will attract readers. You can tell this author is aiming for a specific audience, because it is stated in her title as well (stay at home moms). The author includes links to social medias, a video, and multiple images to support the blog. The organization here is spot on, because it starts the blog off with a question/a hook/attention grabber. There is also a small amount of background, not too much. There are enough paragraphs with decent description after each subheading that also grab the reader's attention because they are capitalized and bolded for an easier view. The author also includes links to certain jobs, as well as research to support her claims. The author's purpose here is clear because of her title as well, which is to persuade and inform. Everything about this blog is done well and successfully!

  1. Hello, I like the way you explained about blogs before starting the reviews. You chose to review the blogs in the order of the unsuccessful to the most successful blog. Thanks for bringing the third blog to my notice. I went through the complete list of work from home ideas.

  2. Hello Samantha! I definitely agree with you on the fact that if a writer is writing about a specific topic, they should keep their focus on that (since the writer talked lots about their personal background). From your post, I gathered that titles are very important when wanting to bring a specific audience in and there should be no misleading information in it.

  3. Hi Samantha, I agree with blogs needing images to break up a big amount of words. I think that's what makes blogs so different from each other. You can add anything as long as it correlates with the text.

  4. Hi Samantha! I think you did a good job at analyzing what you do and don't like about different blogs. I agree that the blog about jobs for stay at home moms was very well done. It would be nice if you add a conclusion section to your entries in the future!

  5. Hi Samantha, I like the style you have chosen for your blog. The pictures and emoticons make it different. Also I liked the way you organized the information from the meanings of blogs and your opinion from the least likely to the best.
